A year ago, I celebrated my 60th birthday with a group of friends and family in Plettenberg Bay, and, in speaking to some of them this morning, we’re all just amazed at how fast this last year has gone by.
Last year, Mat flew in from Australia for a surprise visit. We’d only seen each other a few times a year for the last four years and we were both holding back tears when the speeches were made. The future, then, looked different for both of us.
We didn’t expect things to change at that time, but they sure did. Today, as I celebrate my 61st, there are new hopes and dreams and we’ve set out on an exciting new journey. Mat, Monique, Liam and Olivia arrive back from Australia in Johannesburg today, and Diane and I are simply overjoyed. I’m not sure if they planned it this way, but it’s a wonderful birthday present all the same!
