Mike and Mathew de Kock have fond memories of Rafeef as a racehorse, and they’re having a good measure of success with his progeny. Mojo Man followed up on Esteemed’s Saturday win, with a victory of his own in Race 10 over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
“We learnt a lot about him from his first run for us,” said Mathew. “He moved up and got tired over 1200m and this race was the next available option. The inside draw helped.”
Mojo Man appeared to be travelling easy when his rivals were scrambling around him for early positions and jockey Ryan Munger said: “He had a good, clean break from the number one draw and the speed was on. I just let him go through the motions. They were coming at him from all angles, but he fought them off well.”
Mojo Man races for Laurence Wernars and family, in partnership with Tammy Gilmour’s Social Squad Syndicate. Mathew thanked the connections: “It’s nice to reward their support with a winner.”
