Desert Miracle returning for Highveld majors
December 6, 2021It’s all systems go for Desert Miracle in Saturday’s G1 Cape Filliies Guineas, she’s travelled well and settled in, but, Mike de Kock said on Friday, “we’re always on the back foot with the travelling from Johannesburg, and only the race will show us where we stand.”
He touched on the opposition and said: “This looks like a really decent field of fillies and there are some well-bred quantities that are unknown to us, so I think we could have a race on our hands. Desert Miracle has been talked up as a star around the country, we think she is good enough to win but the talking will have to be done on the racetrack.
“I like her two-year-old form against fillies, she beat a top filly Follow Me who in turn accounted for Marigold Hotel last month, there is a line of form there, but for the rest we’ll have to see. Her three-year-old form against the colts doesn’t look as good through Pyromaniac, but one could argue that he was below his best in the Dingaans last week. Candice Bass-Robinson has a few good contenders in the race, Andre Nel’s filly looks competitive and Brett Crawford has a filly with a nice pedigree. And that’s without the Snaith runners.
“As always, we are here to compete and we look forward to the race and the race day.”
