Betway, the new Headline Associate to Mdk Racing, have started our professional relationship by kitting out the Mdk Racing Stables Football Team, consisting mostly of our stable staff.
We reported last week that a part of Betway’s commitment to racing is giving back at grass roots level and they’ve started generously here by supplying new shirts, boots and balls and training equipment to our team.
The Mdk Soccer Team recently beat the strong Paul Peter team at Turffontein by 3-2 and they’ve been keen as mustard for more games against similar teams.
Assistant trainer Vengi Masawi has been appointed as Manager of the team and will be active in a coaching capacity. The Captain is Sam Simela, a very good striker and Vengi tells that Lebo Siyabanga does the big work in the middle of the pitch as attacking midfielder. If anyone opponent manages to break through, they’ll have to contend with central defender, Godfrey Malisane.
“We train near the Visitor’s Room at the Randjesfontein Clubhouse and we have three players ‘on loan’ from other stables to make us stronger,” said Vengi. “We are thankful to the stable and Betway for their sponsorship. We hope to travel to Durban soon to take on Matthew Sham’s New Turf Carriers Team. We hear they are good and we’ll be ready to show them who is best!”
Former Kaizer Chiefs, Bafana Bafana and Leeds star, Lucas Radebe, Betway Ambassador, was on hand Tuesday to hand over the kit and he had a team chat to appreciative players, Mike and Diane de Kock.
“This initiative from Betway is appreciated and it’s a token of appreciation to our hardworking staff,” said Mike de Kock.
