Definitely Maybe ran on powerfully late in the race to win a MR72 over 1600m at the Vaal on Tuesday, winning by half a length under a well-time ride by Gavin Lerena.
Definitely Maybe didn’t beat much when she won her Maiden last month, but she is a progressive type with scope in her pedigree and Mike de Kock said: “This is yet another example of a filly starting in the right place on ratings. Her Mr77 gave her a chance to follow up and she has the confidence to go on from here. She wants to go further.
“We had Motown Magic on the same day going of an MR87 in a much tougher handicap and running unplaced. It shows the influence handicappers have in shaping or breaking horses.”
Definitely Maybe races for Mary Slack. She is is a three-year-old by Silvano from the stakes winner Maybe Yes, by Tiger Ridge.
