We’re starting off in Dubai on Thursday evening with two runners in Race 1, the Mina Hamriya, a Maiden contest over 1400m on dirt.
Yurman and Effectif are both three-year-old colts by our former Dubai Carnival star, Asiatic Boy, who ran second to Curlin in the 2008 Dubai World Cup.
Yurman is bred from a mare by Bernandini and Effectif is a son of Emotif, who also ran for us, her best in Dubai was a fifth in the UAE Oaks in 2013.
They are owned, like Asiatic Boy, by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, bred by the Sheikh and imported from Argentina with a view to trying dirt racing.
Mike commented: “Both runners are going the right way, but having only a few horses in the stable we’ve had nothing to try them with, so we are not sure of their ability. This is a bit of trial and error today, but there are good signs, we’ll be hoping for good runs.”
