WE wish our patrons, clients, friends and readers a happy and prosperous New Year, and thank you for your valued support in the very difficult 2020. Also to my staff, who performed their duties with pride and distinction and kept the protocols up in a hard year for everyone.
In reflecting briefly on the extraordinary developments of 2020, not only worldwide on all levels but in horseracing, we salute Mary Oppenheimer and Daughters (MOD) for coming forward to save our industry.
The NHA did well with their work on Covid-19, also a number of individuals behind the scenes who helped to prepare the documents. But their efforts would not have mattered, in fact wouldn’t have been necessary, if it wasn’t for this amazing lady and her lovely daughters. Heartfelt thanks from us, and the industry, to MOD!
Our thoughts and condolences are with racing folk who lost loved ones this year, we are thinking especially of our friend, Kelvin Haarhoff, without whom, Gauteng racing hasn’t been the same.
Let’s trust and hold thumbs that 2021 will turn out to be everything that 2020 wasn’t!
Regards to all,
Mike de Kock
