MIKE de Kock’s new acquisition Fire Away (USA), ultimately destined for stallion duties in South Africa, makes his racetrack debut at Meydan on Thursday night.
Fire Away is a son of War Front (USA) and Salute, by Unbridled, and Mike said: “This is an exciting new project for a group of breeders who bought shares in the horse. I can report that he is a very good-looking horse with excellent form on turf in the US. He’s a lovely horse to work with, he has pleased us in his time here and we look forward to seeing him run.”
Fire Away has been entered for the Azizi Mina Handicap over 1600m on turf, Race 7 on the Meydan programme, and Mike said: “He’s travelled and he’s an older horse, so it’s hard to predict what kind of run he will deliver. But his work with us has been very good, he’s shown his ability and if he reproduces what he has shown, he should run a good race first up.
“Whatever happens, this race will bring him on, he will improve for it.”
