MIKE de Kock has four weekend runners at Meydan, here are his comments:
Thursday, 17 January:
Race 6:
Fire Away, as discussed yesterday, is doing well in home work. He has travelled, he’s an older horse that will retire to stud but if he brings his gallops to the track should give a good account.
Suyoof runs with Fire Away. He had a good first-up run two weeks ago. He’s a fragile horse, not straight forward, but he is capable of winning a race like this. Hard to predict what he’ll do, but my feeling is he will run a good race from his inside draw.
Saturday 19 January:
Race 5:
Bold Rex was carried in and had to be held up late in last week’s race. He would’ve finished closer, unlucky. Not ideal racing him so quickly again, but it is what it is, this is a non-Carnival race that looks the right race for him, he’ll run well.
Conclusion is a new acquisition, his best Irish form is over a mile and up, this will be too short and he will need the run.
