MIKE de Kock has accepted three-year-old Bold Rex for the Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate on 7 January 2016.
Mike won the 2011 renewal with champion mare Mother Russia and this will be a tough task for the up-and-coming young horse to take on the big guns like Legal Eagle and Marinaresco, but it’s a fine achievement nonetheless for new sire Bold Silvano and Bold Rex’s group of owners, who paid only R160,000 for him at BSA’s National Yearling Sale.
