A versatile runner opens more racing opportunities and Mary Slack has one on her hands in Brazilian-bred three-year-old colt Toro Rosso.

Toro Rosso, who’d won his Maiden on turf, skated home by eight lengths in a MR73 Handicap on sand at the Vaal, Tuesday, and Mike de Koxck will have a number of options open to him going forward.

Toro Rosso looked confident in the hands of Johnny Geroudis and wasn’t near extended, giving the impression that he will enjoy more ground, too, as his career progresses.

A  chestnut by Elusive Quality from a Mutakddim mare, Toro Rosso was raised by Haras Old Friends.
