“NOBODY being trained any more aggressively for the Belmont than Mubtaahij,” reported Mike Welsch of DRF yesterday.
“After working five furlongs on Sunday, he came back out this morning and was allowed to blow out three-eighths in 13.19, 42.07, continued out a half-mile in 56.44 before pulling up on the clubhouse turn.
Mubtaahij (Lisa Moncrieff), takes a look around Belmont Park.
“The UAE Derby winner had jogged a mile back to the seven furlong pole and was a handful for his exercise rider once turning around to gallop, perhaps leading her to just give him his head a little as they left the 3/8’s pole and came into the stretch.”
Everything is nicely on target as the build-up starts to the 2015 Belmont Stakes on 6 June.
Mike de Kock will be leaving for New York at the weekend.
