JOCKEY Tshwaro Appie rode a well-timed finish on Meadow Magic to win a MR96 Handicap over 1450m at Turffontein’s inside track on Saturday. Extra Cover (second) and Straw Market (third) also produced good late runs, but Appie’s effort was best timed and the four-year-old gelding by Mogok drew away at the end, winning by a length.
This was Meadow Magic’s fifth win from only 12 starts and he’s won over 1200m and 1450m with good places over 1000m, 1600m and 1800m.
Assistant trainer John Buckler commented: “Meadow Magic’s versatility is his best trait. He’s also comfortable on sand and turf and we’ll look for a little feature race for him, somewhere along the line. He hasn’t stopped improving.”
Meadow Magic is owned by Larry Nestadt, Greg Blank, Philip Georgas, Marshall Finlay and Selwyn Nathan.
