MARKUS and Ingrid Jooste’s Kahal colt Largesse scored a commanding win a Maiden Plate over 1600m on turf at the Vaal last Tuesday. The three-year-old skated home three lengths clear of his opposition under jockey Weichong Marwing and looks like one to watch this season.

Assistant trainer Mathew de Kock commented: “Largesse didn’t beat a strong field so there’s not much one can draw from the form at this stage, but he’s a promising sort, he could be a decent stayer in the making. He made a a good debut over 1450m and handled the extra 200m well in his second start.

“He’s a horse that give his best, he improves day by day and we’re hoping he continues his good progress. He’s quiet in his stable, well behaved and a real gentleman, but when he gets out he’s like a lion, he sweats up a bit and wants to run!”

Largesee was bred by Barton Hall Stud.
