MAHBOOBA bolted up by six lengths in the Listed Aqlaam Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Friday.
Mike de Kock’s filly had been bogged down in softer conditions at Windsor last time out but bounced off the faster surface to quicken clear under Pat Cosgrave.
Mahbooba (Pat Cosgrave), wins the Aqlaam Godolphin Stakes.
Although having never raced over the mile-and-a-half distance before, the 3/1 chance strode away to win handsomely from Godolphin’s Al Shemali.
Assistant Steve Jell said: “We did not think the trip would be a problem as she has always been looking for that and she was well on the day.
“The ground made the difference as she wants it decent and it has been too soft for her the last few times she has raced.
“We will see how she is and have a think but she could run again this year and if she does then the EP Taylor Stakes in Canada next month would be a possibility.”
Mahbooba is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum of Dubai.
