HERE are assistant trainer Mathew de Kock’s comments for the stable’s runners on Emerald Cup Day, Saturday 24 September 2011:
KENTUCKY EXPRESS (Hampton Handicap): “He comes back off a short rest and could need the run. He is track-and-trip suited and is working well. Place chance.”
CALL THE CHALLENGE (Sophomore 1000): “He was a touch unlucky to lose in the maiden ranks in his debut. He puts up very, very good work and should fight it out. He is a very fast colt.”
AMUR AFFAIR (Sophomore Fillies 1000): “You can put a line through her last effort. We put her away for 147 days and she has grown into a beautiful filly. The trip may be a touch on the sharp side but she should run a good race.”
EMPENOSO HENN (Vaal River Handicap): “I’m expecting a big run from him. His work at home is good. The change of surface may change his luck.”
DANSILI EXPRESS (Race 2): “He has only recently arrived from Durban and we don’t know too much about him. He is drawn wide and this will be his first run on the sand, but he puts up very good work and we’re expecting a good run.”
