RIGHT BEAUTY, the first foal of 2003 Grade 1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Emerald Beauty (sired by Wilgerbosdrift’s resident stallion Right Approach), made an impressive winning debut in a Juvenile Plate over 1160m at Turffontein on Tuesday (headline photo).
Right Beauty (9-2) kept on steadily under Anthony Delpech to beat the 1-1 favourite Tennessee Strategy, a fluent winner on debut over Zambucca, who went on to win his next start.
“Tennessee Strategy looked hard to oppose on what he’d exposed so we didn’t expect Right Beauty to win. The form looks strong at this stage, but we’ll have to see how Right Beauty shapes in a graded race before we can truly assess his ability.”

Right Beauty has the same grey coat as his well-performed dam, a filly Mike always rated as one of the best he’s trained, despite the fact that she won only three races. The two-year-old’s owners will be holding thumbs that most of her ability flows in this youngster’s veins too!
The partnership of owners include golfing giants ‘Chubby Chandler’ and Lee Westwood, who also owned shares of Emerald Beauty when she was on the racetrack, which made the win even more exciting.
Right Approach must have had Emerald Beauty in his sights long before he had the pleasure of courting her in Wilgerbosdrift’s paddocks. The pair were stablemates in Mike’s Dubai yard in 2005 and 2006. Both ran on World Cup night in 2005: Right Approach finished third in the Dubai Duty Free to Elvstroem and Emerald Beauty was sixth to Grand Emporium in the Godolphin Mile.
