WITH 15 runners entered on Charity Mile Day at Turffontein, Mike and his assistants won’t have time to enjoy much of the festivities, but with a number of possible winners among them and there could be cause foe celebration afterwards.
Mike sums up the chances of his runners, below:
Race 3: DAGANA has improved from her first run. Although she is drawn wide, she is very fit and well and should be concerned in the finish.
Race 4: WOROOD is although draw badly, but has had the perfect prep and is fit. The 1400m may be a question mark but she is looking exceptionally well.
Race 5: (Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup) UMHLABA will find this field very competitive but we need to take our chances in this feature. CHECCETTI has done very well and has come on from her last start. We are hoping for a first three finish. IGUGU is very well. Apart from a minor setback, her prep has been faultless. She is flying in work and we are hoping for a huge run. DANEHILL DARLING is well and we need to take our chances in this feature race. CHEKECHE is very fit and well and we are hoping to run into the money.
Race 6: (Charity Mile) RUDRA has come on from his last run and is a much fitter horse going into Saturday. Although still part of the Summer Cup prep and on the short side, we are hoping for a big run. HAVASHA has had a blood disorder but seems to be over it. He is looking well and starting to show more in his work, improvement is expected. ALDERRY has been disappointing recently and we will be fitting her with blinkers, hoping for improvement. She is very fit and well.
Race 7: (Graham Beck Stakes) JET LEGEND will find this a good test against the best of his age group. The trip may be slightly too short but we will know more after Saturday. KAVANAGH has had a very good prep and the conditions are in his favour despite the bad draw. Although he will come on with the run, we are expecting a huge run.
Race 8: (Golden Loom Handicap) LINK MAN has had a good prep and is fit. This trip may be a bit sharp but his class will make him competitive.
Race 9: IMMELMAN is very fit and well and a first three finish is expected.
