BloodStock SA is set to hold its annual Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale at Germiston on Sunday 7th November commencing at 14:00.
There are 164 well bred 2yos catalogued with leading sires Kahal, Al Mufti, Captain Al, Dynasty, Fort Wood, Jallad, Jet Master to name but a few all represented at the sale.
Top international sires including Rock of Gibraltar, Royal Academy and Dansili also have offspring on offer. Panelists agreed at the R2R Gallops recently that all of the imports were very good specimens, particularly Lot 61, a chesnut colt by Elusive Qqality and Lot 55, a colt by Hussonet.
Lot 61, an unnamed colt by by Elusive Quality.
The Ready to Run Sale has done extremely well over the last few seasons, with recent graduates including Gary Alexander-trained multiple Gr1 champion Pierre Jourdan and Mike de Kock’s unbeaten filly Igugu. Recently, both Pierre Jourdan and Igugu won feature races at Turffontein, whilst other top horses to have graduated from the sale include high-class international performer and Guineas winner Imbongi, Gr1 Gold Cup winner Desert Links, the record breaking Hear The Drums and Gr1Garden Province winner Outcome.
At the recent pre-sale gallops, a number of expert judges were impressed by the quality of the stock on sale. The panel, including the likes of Graeme Hawkins, Jehan Malherbe, Eamonn Cullen, and top trainers Dean Kannemeyer, Joey Ramsden, Sean Tarry and Mike de Kock, were particularly taken with the progeny of leading sire Kahal. Lot 55, a son of leading international sire Hussonet, also caught the eye, whilst another popular lot was 61, a colt by champion US sire Elusive Quality. Both lot 55 and lot 61 hail from powerful international families and both look sure to be popular in the sales ring.
Another youngster to find favour with the judges was lot 98. A daughter of Captain Al (whose fillies can do no wrong at the moment), she is out of a full sister to Met winner Angus. A lot with tremendous paddock value is lot 100. A daughter of champion sire Fort Wood, she is a full sister to PE champion 2yo Short List.
Yet another beautifully bred 2yo to come under the hammer is lot 42. A daughter of Kahal, sire of numerous top fillies, she is a half-sister to Gr1 GommaGomma Challenge winner Pick Six. Lot 22 has one of the hottest pedigrees on the planet. By champion sire Dansili, whose offspring have been dominating international group one races, the colt is from a family responsible for such champion sires as Iffraaj and Cape Cross.
The 2010 Emperors Palace Ready to Run Sale looks set to have its fair share to top-class horse in its midst, and it’s not a sale to be missed. Graduates from the 2010 sale will be in line to enter the R2-million Emperors Palace Ready to Run Sweepstakes Race on 5 November 2011 – but only if the purchaser “Ticks the Box” when signing for their horses on 7 November.
The annual Emperors Palace Ready to Run Sweepstake precedes the sale on Saturday 6 November at Turffontein Racecourse. The 2010 R1.5-million race will feature the top performers from the Class of 2009 Ready to Run Sale graduates.
