MIKE De Kock has put his finishing touches on our four Durban July contenders Irridescence, Gang Related, Grey Arrow and Ilha Da Vitoria, writes CHARL PRETORIUS.
The quartet of top runners all had preparatory gallops on the sand track at Summerveld on Wednesday and De Kock commented: “Everything is on target now and I am happy with all of them. They won’t be doing much more before Saturday.’’
De Kock hasn’t committed himself to picking between the four and said: “This is an open July and every one has a realistic chance of winning.’’
Bookmakers believe that Weichong Marwing’s pick, Irridescence, has the best chance of De Kock’s runners, and she is priced up third favourite at 10-1 to win. Ilha Da Vitoria is generally at 20-1, with 25-1 and better about Grey Arrow and Gang Related. Dean Kannemeyer’s Rabiya remains the favourite, with 5-2 available.
