Cheekpieces did the trick

Jaham has been restless and over-racing, the reason for his disappointing runs, but he came back to form with a good win in a Class 4 Handicap over 1750m at HWB Scottsville on Sunday.

This was his peak run afterr being gelded, but Mike noted on Friday that the use of cheekpieces, instead of blinkers, would be tried for a change of Jaham’s focus.

Jockey Tristan Godden confirmed: “The cheekpieces made the difference. He jumped out a length clear but settled into a good rhythm.”

Jaham was bred and races for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s Al Adiyat. He is by Kingman out of Tamaane, by Teofilo.
