Mathew landed here from Australia just prior to the King’s Plate. We’ve had a busy and wonderful few weeks travelling the country to stud farms and attending race days, and getting him back into the swing of things at Randjesfontein and Summerveld.
Our partnership only launches officially on 1 February – we’ve brought it forward – and I sure hope we can maintain the momentum we’ve built up so far, with nine winners up to 23 January. There is every reason to believe we will!
Thursday’s Cape Summer Sale was our first auction together since 2020, we enjoyed seeing old friends and acquaintances and came away with three hand-picked lots to get the partnership’s buys off the mark with true thoroughbred quality. See pics above and below:
Lot 29, One World colt.
Arun Chadha and Warne Rippon of ASSM, and George Ragunan bought Lot 29, a super colt by stallion sensation One World. His name is World Attraction.
Arun also successfully bid on Lot 74, a lovely Rafeef colt that was on our shortlist. He is out of a promising Trippi mare.
Rafeef colt.
Laurence Wernars and Harry Willson put their heads down with the acquisition of Thunderstruck’s half-sister by Vercingetorix (Lot 66), from Avontuur, who named her, ‘Proud Mary’.
Our sincere thanks go to the stalwarts who supported us, we cannot wait to start training their horses. Thanks also to other clients who came to support, we were underbidders for them on a couple of other lots. We’ll be saving their firepower for forthcoming sales!
Congratulations also to Cape Racing Sales for putting up a good auction, and achieving the highest average price per foal recorded since 2017.
We welcome further support from owners and thank you for the good wishes and encouragement we have received so far.
