There was a lot to like about Top Seed’s Maiden win in a 1200m contest at Scottsville on Sunday.
He travelled with plenty in hand, responded readily and won, showing a nice, fluent action.
“He’s a horse I’ve always rated. We expected him to win his debut, but he pulled up lame and was given time off. He is over that now. He has a touch of class, he won’t be a one-time winner,” said Mike de Kock.
Jockey Craig Zackey agreed that Top Seed felt like a type who would “go on from here.”
Top Seed races for Lady Christine Laidlaw’s Khaya Stables. Bred by Eugene Freeman at Boland Stud, he is by Legislate out of California Cool, by Trippi.
