The year starts on a high note with the new stakes-boosted class racing structure, financial incentives, track upgrades and other infrastructural and operational initiatives planned for KZN Racing.
This is great news for racing in the region. The traditional KZN winter racing season has always been a highlight of the South African racing calendar and the all-round revival by Hollywoodbets, Greg Bortz and company is welcomed. KZN is a great place to visit and a great place to race, throughout the year. New direction is a long-time coming.
I am happy to play a role in this so-called new dawn, however small so far. Mathew and I will be throwing our full support behind KZN racing under the ‘De Kock Racing’ banner when he returns from Australia shortly, and we are excited about participating in KZN.
Thank you and well done to all involved. We know there is much work to be done and a few regulatory issues to deal with, but I am confident that, at this time next year, we’ll be able to look back with pride on what has been achieved.
From Sporting Post:
Horseracing in KwaZulu-Natal takes the next step to the dawn of a new era at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday 1 January 2025 with a new-look revitalized racing programme and the introduction of incentives and stakes adjustments which aligns the province with the status quo in the Cape.
The new KZN programme covers the period 1 January to 28 February 2025 and introduces the stakes-boosted class racing structure to the province, while unveiling financial incentives via the RaceCoast incentive scheme with the ultimate aim of improving racehorse ownership in KZN and achieving enhanced field sizes with the knock-on vital lifeblood of increased betting turnovers.
