Sparkling Jubilee returned from a five-month rest, but was presented in good condition by Mike de Kock’s Randjesfontein team to win a MR66 Handicap over 1600m at the Vaal on 7 May. She was well ridden by Diego De Gouveia, who had a lot of filly under him approaching the 300m mark. Diego also rode her when she won her Maiden.
Sparkling Jubilee could’ve been named ‘Pearl Jubilee’ as she was a 30th Wedding Anniversary Present from Mike to Diane de Kock, but racing partner Chris Haynes named her such after top mare Sparkling Water and the Queen’s Jubilee, which was celebrated in 2022.
“Sparkling Jubilee is not a bad filly at all, she has some ability and will win again if we can keep her sound,” Mike commented.
Bred by Heversham Park, Sparkling Jubilee is by Oratorio from erstwhile Durban July-placed, Zirconeum.
