Marauding Horde held on to win a Maiden Plate at Turffontein over 1800m on Saturday from the grey Judgement Day in a race that showed his inexperience and promised more wins to come over ground.
He was still a bit green, had his head turned to the side for a while and then appeared to look for company when he got to the front. Jockey Kabelo Matsunyane had his hands full, but he rode a professional race and punters were delighted that their popular banker was home.
Matsunyane confirmed: “The penny hasn’t dropped yet. He is still immature, but he has scope.”
Marauding Horde is a colt by Vercingetorix out of My Indigo Bluff by Indigo Magic, raised at Maine Chance. He is owned by Drakenstein Stud, Lammerskraal, Ridgemont and Wilgerbosdrift in partnership with Jaryd and Laurence Wernars.
