Iphiko’s record shows that she’s only inferior to a handful of sprinters in South Africa over 1000m, and her top-level pace gave her a slight edge at the end of Saturday’s Singapore Pools Trophy 2004 Pinnacle Sprint at Turffontein.
Iphiko pinged the gates and led all the way, challenged late but prevailing with heart.
Jockey Muzi Yeni said Iphiko won the race at the pens. “I tried to save her, she was feeling pressure with 150m but her class carried her through. She showed sheer resolution, gave another kick, a courageous win.”
Mike de Kock said: “It’s not easy for any filly to win more than three races, but the Pinnacle Plates with the sex allowance helps a lot.”
He congratulated Iphiko’s ownwers, the Hollywood syndicate, and said: “The Hollywood show goes on!”
Iphiko was bred by Team Valor International’s Barry Irwin, she’s by Trippi out of Valor Red, by Western Winter.
