Mike de Kock is on a family holiday in Australia, and a welcome addition to the fun and joy they’ve already experienced, was a De Kock-owned and trained winner at Flemington in Melbourne on Wednesday, where Mat (and partner Robbie Griffiths) saddled a three-year-old winner and later finished second in a Listed Sprint.
South Africa’s champion trainer Mike De Kock was bursting with pride after he had watched his three-year-old filly Celestial Storm win at Flemington, who is trained by his son Mat.
De Kock said watching Celestial Storm win the Class 1 (1000m) was an immense thrill for him and one of his best days at the races.
“I’m very proud. Mat was under Group 1 pressure today as the family is over for Christmas. I own her with some pretty good mates from South Africa,” De Kock said.
