Lady Laidlaw gave Mike ‘another chance’

Gimmeanotherchance was commanding and impressive in his five-length success in a 1450m race on the inside track at Turffontein on Thursday. He raced smoothly past his rivals at the 300m mark and won by five.

Said Mike de Kock about the smart two-year-old colt: “We liked Gimmeanotherchance on his debut and in his second run in sprints, but he needed the extra ground and showed his worth today. He’s a really nice horse, I think we’ll have a good season with him in Durban.”

Mike said that Lady Christine Laidlaw of Khaya Stables gave him Gimmeanotherchance to train after a humorous incident at the National Sale. “I haven’t had much luck for Lady Laidlaw with the runners we’ve trained for her. She’d bought a few at the sale last year and when this one came along, she looked at its name and joked: “Let’s give this one to Mike de Kock, let’s give him another chance!’ I’m hoping he can go a long way, for sure,  thanks to Lady Laidlaw for her continiueed support.”
