The stable saddled the Race 7/8 Win Double at Turffontein on Tuesday when smart filly Bold Act bounced back to her best and the useful Florentina also got back to winning ways.
Owner Mike Destombes’ Bold Act (Craig Zackey, headline photo)) came from last, made her way out to the standside rail and quickened away to win smartly. Florentine was well placed, in touch on the bend and within striking distance at the business end. Jockey Keagan De Melo rode a well time race and she, too, drew away at the end for owners Steven and Jessica Jell of Mauritzfontein Stud.
Florentine wins.
Said Mike: “Bold Act was a good two-year-old, very promising. She had a dip in form, we gave her a rest and she’s come back very well, this was a prep for the Fillies Guineas.
“Florentine had a few niggles and we sent her back to Mauritzfontein. She had a good rest and came back well. Last time she had a tongue tie on, she didn’t like that but back on the bend she delivered, she’s not a bad filly at all. Well done to the respective owners.”
