Queen Supreme produced an unexpected flat run in in the Majorca Stakes on Met Day in 2020 after winning last year’s G1 Paddock Stakes three weeks prior to the Majorca and then staying in Cape Town.
“We decided to take Queen Supreme back to Johannesburg after this year’s Paddock win, and to travel her back to Cape Town this week for Saturday’s Met,” Mike de Kock said on Friday.
“Of course all the travelling is not ideal, but considering what happened last year we didn’t want to risk the same happening again. We’re hoping our strategy of flying in and out with her will work, the race will show.”
He added: “Queen Supreme had a good prep, and she arrived in Cape Town looking good, she’s travelled well again so we’re expecting a good run.”
