Florentine and Frosted Gold’s fine wins

FLORENTINE posted her first career win at Turffontein Saturday, Frosted Gold returned from a rest and beat a useful field. Details below:

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE (F & M), 1160m

WINNER: FLORENTINE
PEDIGREE: 3bF Ideal World (USA) – Franny by Trippi (USA).
BREEDER: Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein
OWNER: Mauritzfontein (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mrs J B Jell).
JOCKEY: Callan Murray
Murray comments: “She came to the races in great shape, put them to bed early. She has potential and I hope she gets there!”
Mdk comments: “She was very green first up, but she was beaten by what in my opinion is a very good filly. We’ll take our time with her, find a Graduation Plate or a Handicap. I like the way she is progressing and I still think she may go around the turn.”

RACE 5: COMPUTAFORM ONLINE PINNACLE STAKES 1400m

WINNER: FROSTED GOLD (NZ)
PEDIGREE: 4grG All Too Hard (AUS) – Mary D’Or (FR) by Verglas (IRE).
BREEDER: JML Bloodstock LTD
OWNER: Mr D D MacLean.
JOCKEY: Craig Zackey
Mdk comments: “He came back fit and well after two indifferent runs at the end of last season. He’s a capable horse with niggles, and doesn’t like the stick. Craig Zackey knows him well, rode a well-timed race and they beat a good field. From now it gets hard because the SA programme doesn’t have many races for horses like him. We have limited options and will have to consider a race like the Queen’s Plate.
