SOUTHERN Charm fought back well to gain the upperhand in a Graduation Plate for Fillies and Mares over 1200m at Turffontein’s Inside Track on Saturday.
Southern Charm looked to have done everything right from a good position when they came to the 150m mark, where Gee For Go and Glotoria headed her and went half a length clear.
But jockey Raymnd Danielson did a saddle strut, gave her a reminder and she responded with a game thrust to get her head back in front at the line.
“That was gutsy from Southern Charm and keeps her on target for the CTS Ready To Run (R1,25-million, 21 November). On the way she won today I think the 1400m is within her reach,” said Mike de Kock, who owns her in partnership with Larry Nestadt and Heinrich Rix.
Southern Charm, bred by Pippa Mickleburgh, is by Flower Alley from Count The Cash, by Western Winter.
