THE 2020 renewal of the highly popular CTS Ready To Run Sale will be conducted online this year, in conjunction with gavelhouse.com, who hosted the ground-breaking farm sale for Klawervlei Stud in June. They produced a superb set of results, have an impressive international database, a tried and tested online platform, and a professional management team in support.

The date for the sale has been moved on by two days from its original Friday, 27 November, to Sunday 29 November 2020. The Ready To Run sale will be immediately followed by a Mixed sale, online.

Grant Knowles, Bloodstock and Marketing Director for CTS, commented: “We felt that this would be more suitable for our potential buyers, as Sundays are historically the best days for sales. The vendors have been informed, they have given us their support and we look forward to a word-class event.

“We have all had to endure testing times in recent months, but there is a newfound positivity in the industry. To this end, it would be remiss of us not to place on record our sincere gratitude to MOD and the RTT for all their efforts in securing a safe future for our wonderful sport. We look forward to rebuilding the future with all of racing’s key role players.

“The announcement regarding a much-needed stakes increase already suggests that we are heading in the right direction. Adrian Todd remains confident that the EU virtual audit will take place in the coming months. This will have an extremely positive outcome for future sales.”

Knowles said that a number of changes have been introduced in order to assist vendors in lowering their sale costs and to promote broader participation from the marketplace.

 The changes are as follows:

  • Entry Fees and Acceptance Fees remain as specified.
  • A sales race has been introduced with a vendor levy of R3,000 and a buyer’s levy of R5,000. This equates to an R8,000 levy per horse. CTS has already received in excess of 150 entries and therefore envisage a race value in excess of R1 million in 2021 (Conditions apply to horses not sold).
  • CTS and their filming team will be responsible for all video and photographic images required. Kerry Jack will be in contact with vendors to set up filming days.
  • A 45-second video will be edited for each horse on the sale. It will include the vendor’s logo, the horse’s pedigree, and a conformation photo. These videos will be uploaded to Gavelhouse.com once they have been signed off.
  • Ready To Run horses will be filmed at Durbanville on specified gallop days.
  • Horses will gallop with CTS saddlecloths with the LOT NUMBER shown. These will be provided on specified gallop days. Horses who galloped poorly in their first efforts will have an opportunity for a retake later in the week.
  • Tea, coffee and bacon & egg rolls will be provided on the morning of the gallops.
  • CTS will liaise with each vendor with regards to assisting in setting up viewing days at their respective farms. These viewing days will be advertised extensively and will include all farms. All vendors will have airtime on Breeding to Win.
  • CTS will be responsible for the allocation and approval of buyer’s cards. Approved buyers will be forwarded to Gavelhouse.com where they will be issued with a username and password.
  • A once off entry fee of R1 500.00 applies per entry for the MIXED SALE, for which, entries close on 15 September 2020.

Andrew Seabrook, Managing Director of New Zealand Bloodstock, who owns gavelhouse.com, commented: “Gavelhouse South Africa is delighted to be partnering with CTS in the upcoming Ready to Run and Mixed Bloodstock Sale. We were thrilled with the success of the recent Klawervlei Stud Sale and are committed to growing online sales in South Africa.

“It is amazing how online sales have taken off internationally and there is no doubt that this form of selling will only become more popular in the future. Gavelhouse looks forward to marketing the sale extensively to its international clients scattered around the world.”
