FIRED Up controlled Race 8 over 1450m at Turffontein on Tuesday under a good ride from Callan Murray.
He led the field into the straight and overpowered them soon enough, striding away to a 2.25-length win over King’s Archer and Hidden Agenda.
“This was a good win, he’s always shown us some ability,” said Mike de Kock.
“He’s on the up and the Vaal’s Grand Heritage looks like the right race for him. He likes things his own way, he’s a big, galloping horse and needs room to stride.”
Fired Up is a son of Rock Of Gibraltar, sold at the BSA National Sale and syndicated to Mike de Kock, Dave Maclean, Chris Hayes, Gary Grant, Dr John and Amanda McVeigh and Noeline Malherbe.
