MUZI Yeni was in enterprising form for the stable at Turffontein’s inside track Thursday, booting home two winners.
The grey five-year-old, Secret Captain made a quick move just before the home bend in Race 3 over 1800m and Muzi didn’t hold back. He stole a few lengths on the chasing pack and his mount kept going gamely from the odds-on favourite, Lord Silverio, who tried hard but couldn’t get past.
Mike de Kock commented: “This was a cracking ride by Muzi, he read the gallop right. Secret Captain has been a frustrating horse for us, I’m glad we’ve broken through with him and especially to have broken the ice for owner Dave MacLean, who is prominent in KZN racing circles and is giving us good support with horses in Gauteng.”
Mike was similarly pleased for KZN-based George Ragunan, a jovial owner and racing supporter who is involved in a number of horses in the yard, including Mambo Model, who won a Handicap over 2000m, also in the hands of Yeni.
“Mambo Model was a cheap filly from Moutonshoek, she’s brought us a lot of fun already and she can win again.”
