FAREEQ (Aus) has been knocking at the door with several good runs this season and it was his consistency rewarded with a fifth career win in a MR96 Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Fareeq, by Nadeem, had been a good servant to Sheikh Hamdan and the stable and Mike de Kock said: “Fareek is a tough handicapper and he won under a good ride from Muzi Yeni. The second horse Secret Captain was unlucky not to have won, but he is getting back to the form he showed as a young horse and can crack it soon.”
Another Aussie-bred Sirtain (Anthony Delpech), by Not A Single Doubt, enjoys 1000m and won a good race completing his own and the stable’s double.
“Sirtain is very courageous horse and it looks like 1200 will be no problem, he should win races rewarding his breeders’ confidence in him . I must also thank him Barry from Magic Millions for arranging to have him trained in SA.”
Sirtain races for Mike, JJ van der Linden and Noeline Malherbe.
