THREE-year-old Captain My Captain has taken six runs to win, not bad at all, but the stable did expect him to win as a two-year-old.
He won his Maiden over 1000m at the Vaal last Thursday, ridden by Callan Murray, and the hope is that he will now go on to measure up to the ability he showed as a younger horse.
In looking back to his two-year-old form, he has run well to feature winners Bold Respect and Dutch Philip and now that Captain My Captain has a win behind him, he could be one of those that rattle off a few in a row.
“We’ll be hoping for that,” said Mathew de Kock. “It looks like 1000m is his game and he’s doing well.”
Captain My Captain was bought at the CTS Ready To Run Sale, 2016 and he races for Mesdames A M Doyle, Noeline Malherbe & H D Richards, Messrs M Dally, Mike de Kock, Gary Grant, Chris Haynes, Larry Nestadt & Dr John & Mrs Amanda McVeigh.
