JOCKEY Craig Zackey is getting the choice of rides for the yard in the absence of Callan Murray and he booted home a second winner this week for Sheikh Hamdan when winning on Hakeem (AUS), Thursday at the Vaal.
Two-year-old Hakeem turned Race 4 over 1400m into a procession. He galloped home 5.2.5-lengths clear of Mike Azzie’s decent juvenile, Llandudno, and won unextended.
Hakeem is another son of Redoute’s Choice, whose offspring has done so well in the stable, but he is likely to perform over more ground than stablemates Rafeef and Mustaaqeem.
“Hakeem is above average and he’ll come into his own further, he is bred to stay,” said Mathew de Kock. “We’ll look at the Durban two-year-old features for him and see how he draws before making a decision.”
