Below is Mat talking to jockey Gavin Lerena and some members of the Onamission Syndicate who came from far and wide to see the syndicate’s first young horse in action.

Puget Sound was beaten into midfield over a trip too short in the R1-million Kuda Sprint, but he will be back to redeem himself and Mat commented: “Overall we are not too disappointed as we were asking a lot of him so early in his career. Don’t forget the fact that he carried 2kg more than the majority of the field. He heads back to Johannesburg now where we will give him a little rest.”
