RAASMAAL (Aus) justified stable confidence on Christmas Eve with a 5.25-length win under Gavin Lerena, getting his Maiden out of the way in a 1000m contest at Turffontein.
Raasmaal (AUS), not slow!
Raasmaal has been plagued with problems, but Mathew de Kock believes he may be outgrowing them and that he has a chance of realising his potential.
“He’s been unsound, but has come along well recently and liked the sting out of the ground,” Mathew said about the son of Snitzel, who races for Sheikh Hamdan.
“Raasmaal pulled up nice and sound after this win, he stretched out nicely and did his job easily. He’s really fast and he quickens off his fast pace which is a good sign. We’d like to test him against stronger now to see how he shapes in better company. So far, so good.”
