OUR stable apprentice Callan Murray, on a six-week stint in Australia, has made a brilliant start Down Under with two winners from his first six mounts.
Callan is working for the leading stable of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig of Lindsday Park, and he’s off the mark with two winners for the partnership.
On Tuesday, Murray rode second favourite Strictly Legit to his Maiden win in a 1000m (around the bend) contest at Mornington Racecourse, situated about 45m outside of Melbourne.
On Wednesday, he booted home Barjeel in a Plated race over 1400m. This one races for Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Australasia and Callan commented: “I’ve won in these colours back home, thanks to Sheikh Hamdan and Angus Gold. Racing in Australia is great, I’ve had some good opportunities from Lindsay Park, my part has been easy.”
