HERE are Mathew de Kock’s comments for the stable’s runners at Turffontein on Saturday, 22 October.
Race 2:
“After Persian Rug’s last run we scoped her and she was full of mucus. She’s well over that, we’ve freshened her up and she’s in good form. It’s a tough race but I expect her to be competitive. “
Race 3:
“The handicappers have done us a favour by dropping Dreamuponadream’s merit rating. Some of his best runs have been over this course and distance and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him regain form. Master’s Spirit won over 1200m at Greyville and this course has a similar layout so it should suit him. I wouldn’t leave him out of Quartets. “
Race 4:
“ Unrehearsed has been showing us some quality work at home. It’s an awkward distance and draw for a first-timer on this track. If not green he could challenge this field. “
Race 5:
“ I felt Perfumed Lady’s last run was good and if she can reproduce that sort of performance she’s a big runner.”
Race 6:
“ Dame Eleanor doesn’t give much away at home so we’re going to learn a lot from this race. This is a decent field so I hope she can finish in the first three. Intriguing Lady is the exact opposite. She shows good work at home but does not always bring it to the racetrack. She’s might just need the run but has ability.”
Race 7:
“ We think a lot of Al Fahad. He’s a nice horse and the form is working out well. This race will also tell us about him and guide us where to go with him. Last Saturday Raymond Danielson pulled Act Of Loyalty out of the race, saying he felt something wrong. Nothing was found to be troubling him. He’s a Ready-To-Run horse and there are not many races left and we need to run him. He’s quite a nice horse and I wouldn’t leave him out of Quartets.”
Race 8:
“ Janoobi is doing nicely at home. He’s a nice horse and we still think he needs more ground but this will tell us if his ability is equal to his rating. If he wins here we would consider running him in the Charity Mile. I really believe you can put a line through Moofeed’s last start in the Grand Heritage. The weights we carried were ridiculous. If you regard his previous effort he is definitely a runner. “
Race 9:
“Dancing Wall travelled well from Durban. We brought her up because we believe she is suited to the Highveld tracks. She should give a good account of herself.”
