TRAVELLING assistant trainer Steven Jell is becoming quite the polished  amateur photographer.  In between walking his dog Ace, putting a few travellers through their paces and having a Lager at The Rutland Arms at Newmarket, UK, Jell snapped this gorgeous photo of Noah From Goa (left) and Smart Call (right), at Mary Slack’s Abington Place.

The photo reminds one of a boxing promo, like the old Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns poster; or Gerrie Coetzee facing John Tate – but Smart Call is a filly of course and she is unlikely to face Noah From Goah in a boxing match or a horse race.

They’re headed for different parts of the world. Noah From Goah, Megnaas and Light The Lights will move on to Dubai in November, while Smart Call will be shipped to the US to compete in the Breeders’ Cup for trainer Alec Laird.

So while this could be more like a Donald vs Hilary pic, or in SA terms a Jacob vs Thuli standoff, it’s only two temporary stable mates sharing a jolly old ”’good morning” in the hub of racing.
