TWO-year-old Fursa ran a big race in Saturday’s Gr1 Allan Robertson Championship over 1200m at Scottsville, storming through late for second to Vaughan Marshall’s smart runner, The Secret’s Out.
The screenshot below from YouTube shows Fursa (yellow silks), between horses, claiming second after being at least six or seven lengths off the pace following a slow start.
Mike de Kock said: “Fursa is by Hard Spun and they can be a bit temperamental. She likes to race from off them, but she’s not a 1200m horse. One couldn’t really expect her to win in this company after being slow off the mark, but it was a super run all the same. Fursa will be very effective up to a mile and she’s got a career ahead of her.”
Mike said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s filly will be exported to Dubai for the 2017 Carnival.
Zaakhira faded out, disappointingly and Mike commented: “Weichong Marwing reported that Zaakhira didn’t extend when he asked her to go. She will like it softer, the ground was probably a bit hard for her.”
