ONE of South African racing’s famous Prawn Festivals will be coming to the Vaal racecourse on Saturday when the R1-million Supreme Cup, sponsored by SAP, will be run over 1450m on the sand track.
There will also be plenty of on-course entertainment for both adults and kids.
The Supreme Cup race meeting, formerly known as the Emerald Cup, is one of the Highveld’s best family days out and the Prawn Festival will be a wow-factor added attraction.

A supply of tons of succulent prawns will be on sale at the jaw-dropping price of R70 a 1/2kg and will be accompanied by chips or rice and a flavour choice of peri-peri, lemon butter or garlic butter.
The kids always get lost in the myriad of on course entertainment provided for them and those who attended in previous years are sure to be reminding their parents of this must-go-to annual outing.
Family picnic sites will be available and are an ideal site from which to soak up the fun and atmosphere of the day.
Patrons can also make a weekend of it, because there is a curtain raiser turf meeting to be held at the same venue on Thursday 24 September.
Entry to the Supreme Cup/Prawn Festival meeting is free and gates will open at 11am.
