HE’s still a bit rough around the edges, but this well-made young Silvano colt has just arrived at Diane de Kock’s barn at the Randjesfontein training centre and Mike de Kock has made him available for syndication.
Purchased at the recent Klawervlei Sale, the as yet unnamed colt is the third foal of the multiple Graded placed mare Nimley, herself from a full-sister to J&B Met winner Alastor and from the family of National Flame and Blazing Al.
He’s just arrived at Di’s barn – watch how this tough Silvano colt changes in shape and coat over the next few months.
With loads of pace in his damline, this colt is the result of an interesting nick with champion stallion Silvano, whose progeny last week filled the first three places in the Vodacom Durban July – not his first July success following wins by Bold Silvano and Heavy Metal. He is also the sire of internationally performed Vercingetorix (sire), Summer Cup winners Aslan and Flirtation) and a J&B Met winner in Martial Eagle.
Jehan Malherbe of Form Bloodstock, who selected the colt with Mike de Kock at Champion Breeders Klawervlei, commented: “In many ways he is a typical Silvano. He needs a bit of time but has the potential to furnish into a real eye catcher. He was a very late foal, so the potential for improvement is enormous. Overall a nice horse, we had him valued a lot higher.”
Diane de Kock, whose magic touch over the next few months will put the “eye-catcher” tag on this one, said on Friday: “We’ve started breaking him in. He’s a strong young horse with a nice temperament.”
Here’s the deal: Mike is making shares in the Silvano colt available in blocks of 10% at an “all in cost to shareholders”, at R62,500 per share (which includes VAT) and is also inclusive of Jockey Club registrations and routine veterinary work, as well as training fees to the end of his two-year-old career.
