GROOMS from Randjesfontein, managed by Mike de Kock’s stable employee David Dlamini, were triumphant in Sunday’s “Inter training centre” Soccer Tournament played at Turffontein, and sponsored by the Racing Association.
Teams of grooms representing the Vaal, Turffontein, Randjesfontein respectively, as well as a team of starting stall handlers participated in the event, the players having been carefully selected by committees from each centre.
The skillful Randjes grooms collected the R7000 prize and a big trophy and Mike also offered them an extra bonus for winning, so there was huge celebrations all round.
Diane de Kock tells: “The pitch was beautifully prepared and there were quite a lot of supporters in attendance. The day was very special and the competition was strong. A very big thank you to Larry Wainstein and the RA for this great initiative. They sponsored each and every player with kit and soccer boots.”
Next year the tournament will be hosted by Randjesfontein.
