IT’s not easy to secure any offspring of top stallion Dynasty for under half a million these days, but Mike de Kock and partners Costa Livanos, Chris Haynes and Gary Grant found Sharp Princess for R325,000 at the 2014 Emperors National Yearling Sale.
A daughter of Dynasty and Sharp Mistress, this three-year-old filly’s pedigree shows a mix of speed and stamina, with Graded winning sprinters and stayers in her female line.
Sharp Princess (Anthony Delpech), no stress.
Sharp Princess showed some good toe when filling the runner-up’s berth twice over 1200m on turf at the Vaal last month, but proved that middle-distances and further will probably be her game when sweeping to a 7.50-length success in a Maiden Plate for filies and mares over 1400m at Scottsville on Saturday – interestingly in a faster time than the winner of the equivalent race for colts and geldings.
Sharp Princess is a nice looker with scope and the partnership will be looking forward to her taking on some higher quality company.
“We bought Sharp Pirncess and a filly by Fort Wood at Nationals last year. It’s early days but Mike likes them both,” commented Gary Grant.
