MUBTAAHIJ will be travelling to New York on Thursday evening, 14 May. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s three-year-old will be trucked from his current base at Churchill Downs in Kentucky to Belmont Park where his preparation for the Gr1 Belmont Stakes will continue. The 2400m race will be staged on 6 June.
Assistant trainer Trevor Brown reported: “Mubtaahij and Umgiyo will be leaving Kentucky by truck on Thursday evening. Lisa Moncrieff will be with them on the journey which will take about 14 hours.”
Brown and Mathew de Kock will be joining the team in New York in due course and Brown said: “Mubtaahij is doing very well, indeed so is Umgiyo. They breezed here at Churchill Downs on Tuesday and are fresh and looking good. They took their races on Derby day in their stride. We’re looking forward to the next few weeks as we build to the Belmont Stakes.”
